This 'Radish' or 'Mooli Patta Dal Recipe' is combined with the goodness of both Toor Dal and Radish Greens that gives you delicious reasons to cook & enjoy your winter meals.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Arahar/toor dal - 1 cup
  • Mooli ke patte (Radish greens) - 2 cups (Chopped)
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - To taste
  • Water - 2-3 cups
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Dry red chilly - 2
  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 medium (Chopped)
  • Garlic (Minced) - 2 teaspoon
  • Tomato - 1 medium (Chopped)

How to make Radish Mooli Patte Ki Dal - Radish

To begin with making this wonderful and nutritious Mooli Patte Ki Dal we need to wash and soak toor dal in water for an hour.

  1. Strain the excess water and transfer it to a pressure cooker along with 2-3 cups of water, salt & turmeric powder. Close the lid and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or till it is cooked to perfection.
  2. Remove the pressure cooker from heat and let the pressure settle down.
  3. Open the lid and mash the lentil with a spatula. Keep aside.
  4. So dal is cooked and now its time to add in the greens and season with some lovely spices. For this, heat ghee in a pan and add in the cumin seeds, dry red chilly and allow to crackle.
  5. Add in chopped onion, garlic and cook till it gets a lovely golden color.
  6. Time to add in the chopped tomatoes, red chilly powder and cook on medium flame till tomatoes gets mushy and ooze out ghee. Now you can add in the radish greens and saute for a minute or two.
  7. Tempering is now done. Add in to the cooked dal, adjust water if required and bring to a boil.
  8. Remove from flame and your Mooli Patte Ki Dal is now ready.
  9. Enjoy your meal with assorted breads, rice and curries!
