Mellow roasted garlic is blended with chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, and lemon juice for a fresh, creamy Roasted Garlic Hummus that's delicious with homemade pita chips or crunchy veggie dippers.

If you love to enjoy your chips & bread with Dips, then it is impossible that you have never ever tasted Roasted Garlic Hummus . It is a classic Moroccan or Middle Eastern dip that is made with Chickpeas (Kabuli chana), tahini (Sesame sauce) along with olive oil, lime juice and certain more ingredients that enhance the flavors. It goes really well not only with Pita Bread but also with rolls, wraps and sandwiches too. So let’s make Hummus and if you have some boiled chickpeas in hand, then it calls for just 5 minutes to bring everything together and make this traditional dip at home.

Believe me, I am a Hummus lover and I have spent many bucks in buying Hummus bottles from stores until I figured out this recipe which honestly I think is better than anything that you can find in markets.

Ok, so before I start talking about the actual recipe of mine, let me tell you that this recipe does not involves Tahini which is a Sesame Sauce. Now in this world of Hummus loving people there are 2 camps - One who love Hummus with Tahini & of course, the other who like to quickly whip up a quick dip without Tahini. So, my this recipe of Roasted Garlic Hummus is for the second batch and I would definitely share the other one soon.

The best way to serve Hummus is with a generous drizzle of Olive oil and a sprinkle of Paprika or you can also use red chilly powder.

You can serve Hummus with any chips or crackers or the way you want. I love to team it with Baked Potato Fingers & Grilled potato wedges.

Make your own wrap with Hummus and Cauliflower. Layer a tortilla or Roti with Hummus, arrange some Roasted Cauliflower and top with Pineapple Salad and onion wedges. Roll and secure with aluminium foil so that it becomes easy to handle and you can have a bite while working or even while driving your car.

Make your get together ravishing with easy to go ‘Snacks’ & ‘Drinks’. Team Hummus with Roasted baby potatoes, Cabbage Pav or simply enjoy with Bread Fries. Blend some quick smoothies & shakes to team with your snacks… like Dry Fruit Milkshake, Egg Cinnamon Shake, Chocolate Banana Shake or Banana Smoothie. During chilly winter evenings we would recommend to serve homemade frothy Cappuccino that would go great with your snacking.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (Kabuli chana) - 1 cup, cooked/boiled
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon or to taste
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2-3 cloves with the skin
  • Salt - To taste
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Paprika or red chilly powder - 1/2 teaspoon 

To Serve -

  • Oilive oil - To drizzle
  • Red chilly powder - To sprinkle

How to make Roasted Garlic Hummus

  1. To begin making with Roasted Garlic Hummus we need to be ready with ‘Roasted Garlic’.
  2. You can roast garlic in the oven. But it takes a lot of time, plus here we are using a very small amount, so I would recommend to roast it on a pan. This method is easier, as well as less time consuming.
  3. For this take garlic cloves (With the skin) in a pan and cook on low flame with the lid. Keep stirring after every 2-3 minutes. Remove from flame when the skin gets dark brown or almost black in colour. This would take about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Now peel this garlic, the skin would slip right away.
  5. In a mixer, take all the ingredients including this roasted garlic and blend till smooth and creamy.
  6. If you need some more liquid to blend this paste, then use more olive oil or you can also add little amount of ‘Warm Water’. Keep blending till you get a pale brown and fluffy paste.
  7. Do check the taste before serving as you might need to adjust on salt, chilli or lime juice.
  8. Now when finally your taste buds approve it, empty this paste in a serving bowl.
  9. Top with olive oil, paprika or some chopped parsely or coriander.
  10. Serve with warm pita bread, chips, crakers or you can also refer our ‘Serving Suggestion’ for some new ideas.
