The humble Khichadi gets a makeover. Hare Matar ki Khichdi or khichidi with fresh seasonal green peas ( matar ) tastes absolutely delicious in lunch or dinner with some raita and pickle on side. Try this dal Khichdi with hare matar when you need a light meal for the lunch.

Try this Hare Matar ki Khichdi which is inspired by Bihari cuisine and you would make this recipe a keeper for days when you need to make something quick and simple without compromising on taste and health. This is also one of the most flavorful ways to enjoy seasonal green peas in winters, though you can also make this with preserved ones during off season.

Did we say that it is Healthy?…yes, it is for sure! Very light on palate and easy to digest. So even if someday you are not feeling well or suffering with stomach upset, then this dal Khichdi would be at your rescue that would be ready in 10 minutes. Relish with simple curd or Masala Curd, your choice. Besides, this is also one of those recipes that can be tried by beginners in cooking as well, since it requires minimum ingredients and you don’t need to think about the recipe getting wrong.

To me Khichdi is a great comfort food. The best part you can add whatever dals, veggies and make it in a different style each time. You must try our Khichdi Recipes like Bengali style Bhog Khichuri, Khandeshi Masala Khichdi and Methi Moong Dal Khichdi.

For a classic Bihari style meal serve Khichdi with Aloo Chana Ghugani, Onion Green Chilly Ginger Raita and Sattu ka Namkeen Sharbat in summers. Do not miss to drizzle some desi ghee on Khichdi before serving.
