Recipe Ingredients

  • Spinach – A small bunch
  • Wheat flour – 2 cups
  • Gramflour – 4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chilly pd. – 1 tsp
  • Green Chilly (Chopped) – 1 tsp (Optional)
  • Salt – To taste
  • Water – To make dough
  • Oil – As required

How to make Spinach Thepla

  • To begin with making spinack thepla, first we need to clean n wash spinach under running water to remove all the impurities.
  • Chop the spinach finely and keep aside.
  • In a large bowl…..take all the dry ingredients including spinach. Give a mix with your hand.
  • Now, make a stiff dough with water. Cover it with a muslin cloth and keep it to rest for about 15 minutes. Our dough is ready.
  • Make equal size balls of this dough. The balls should be slightly bigger than the one’s you make for normal plain paranthas.
  • Flatten the ball slightly with your palm, dust some dry flour and roll it out into a circle of about 6 cm. diameter….just like the way you roll phulkas or paranthas. But…this one should be rolled slightly ‘Thick’. (Well....it won't roll in an exact 'Circle'. But, that's completly fine.)
  • Heat a pan and put the rolled out thepla. Cook on both the sides till you notice little brown spots appear. Now, apply some oil on either side and till golden and slight crispy. Transfer to a serving plate.

‘Spinach Theplas’ are ready. Relish with tea n pickle of choice. You can also pack it for lunch box with aloo ki subzi and yogurt for a delicious and wholesome meal.

Tip –

Cook theplas on medium to high heat. Never cook on low heat otherwise, they would turn chewy.
