Recipe Ingredients

  • Kabuli chana (Chickpeas) – 1 cup
  • Tomato – 1 medium
  • Onion – 1 small
  • Cucumber  (Chopped) – 2 tablespoon
  • Green chilly – 1 (Optional)
  • Ginger (Chopped) – 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander – A handful
  • Sweet tamarind chutney- As required
  • Mint coriander chutney – As required
  • Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Black salt – ½ teaspoon
  • White salt – To taste

For garnishing –

  • Freshly chopped coriander/mint
  • Sev
  • Roasted peanuts

How to make Kabuli Chana Chaat

  • To make kabuli chana chaat - Wash and soak Kabuli Chana ( chickpeas ) in sufficient water overnight. Boil and drain the excess water (Refer article….’Tips and tricks for cooking legumes’).
  • Finely chop all the vegetables.
  • Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl along with boiled chickpeas and toss.
  • Check taste, you might want to adjust salt and spices.
  • Transfer to serving plates.

Garnish with chopped coriander/mint, roasted peanuts and sev. Serve immediately.

Tip –

  • If you don’t have ‘Sev’ to garnish, then crush some ‘Potato chips’ on top. They would taste delicious and give the same amount of crispiness.
