This Indian style masala pasta is one of the favorite pasta dish among people of all ages. Pasta tossed with assorted Indian hot spices and loads of veggies is tasteful, aromatic and makes a quick Sunday brunch, tea time snack or lunch box too.

Usually in pasta recipes we see that ‘Sauces’ play an important role whether it is tomato sauce, chilly sauce, soya sauce, tobasco, siricha or more. Moreover ‘Cream’ or ‘Cheese’ is often added making it heavy on palate. But in this masala pasta recipe it is just the spices and seasonal assorted vegetables that render all the goodness making it wholesome. To keep it healthy, we have used whole wheat pasta which is easy to digest, but you can go for the regular variety if prefer. You can also make this dish using macaroni, noodles or any other variety of pasta with the same recipe and yes….there’s always a probability to play with ingredients and use veggies of choice like cabbage, mushrooms, onion, capsicum, carrots, peas, corn and more !

Recipe Ingredients

  • Wheat pasta (Any variant) – 2 cups
  • Garlic (Minced) – 2 cloves
  • Onion (Medium) – 1
  • Capsicum (Medium) – 1
  • Tomato – (Large) – 1
  • Green chilly (Slit) - 2
  • Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – 1 teaspoon or to taste
  • Garam masala powder – 2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lime juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – To taste
  • Oil – 2 tablespoon
  • Water – As required to boil pasta

How to make Indian Masala Pasta

  • To begin with making this masala pasta with peppy Indian flavours, we need to boil pasta with sufficient water in a saucepan as per the instructions on the packet.
  • Transfer to a sieve and keep aside. Pasta is now cooked and ready to use.
  • Get ready with the vegetables. Slice onion, capsicum and cut tomatoes in medium cubes.
  • Now heat oil in a pan. Add in minced garlic and cook on medium heat till raw smell goes.
  • Add green chilly, turmeric powder, onion, capsicum and sauté on high flame till soft. Remember we need to retain the crunch in vegetables. So do not overcook.
  • To this add in the boiled pasta, tomatoes, powdered spices, salt and toss.
  • Let it cook for a minute till all the flavors come together and tomatoes get slight tender.
  • Finish with lime juice and remove from heat.
  • Serve hot with chutney or sauce and to make your snacking more appetizing, do not miss to refer our serving suggestions.
