How to make Mushroom Pepper Pulao

  • To make this spicy mushroom pulao, we need to wash and soak the rice in water for an hour. Drain the water and keep aside.
  • Now heat oil in a pressure cooker and sauté the mushrooms. Here we are using whole button mushrooms, but if you prefer cut them into half or quarter.
  • Shallow fry these mushrooms in hot oil till they become slight golden and tender.
  • Transfer to a plate. Now in the same oil add in the whole spices and fry for half a minute or till give out aroma and attain a slight darker colour.
  • Immediately add in the sliced onion and fry till golden
  • To this add ginger garlic paste and cook till it separates the oil. If you notice masala burning at the bottom, just sprinkle some water and continue with your cooking.
  • Now its time to add in the soaked rice.  Saute with the masala for a minute so that all the flavors come together.
  • Add in water, salt, powdered spices and give anice stir. Close the lid.
  • Cook on high flame for 1-2 whistles.
  • Remove from heat and let the pressure release.
