Recipe Ingredients

  • Khaman dhokla – 10-12 pieces
  • Freshly chopped coriander – 1 tablespoon
  • Pomegranate seeds – 2 tablespoon
  • Mint (Chopped) – 1 tablespoon
  • Green chilly (Chopped) – 1 teaspoon (Optional)
  • Lemon juice – 1/2 tablespoon or to taste
  • Black salt – To taste

For tempering –

  • Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Asafetida – A pinch or two
  • Freshly grated coconut – 2 teaspoon

To garnish –

  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Mint leaves
  • Farsaan/sev

How to make Gujarati Amiri Khaman | Dhokla

  • To begin with making ‘Amiri Khaman’, first we need to crumble dhokla in a bowl ( Get recipe for khaman dhokla ).
  • Combine all the ingredients (Listed under first category) in bowl and give a toss.
  • Now, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they begin to crakle, add asafetida and grated coconut.
  • Lower the flame and cook while stirring till coconut turns pink and you get a nice aroma. Take care not to burn it. Switch off the flame.
  • Pour this tempering over the crumbled dhokla mixture and give a nice mix.

Amiri khaman is ready. Transfer it to serving bowls and serve as suggested above.
