This warm and rich Badam Milk infused with the goodness of Saffron and Badam is a delight to everyone. If you have ever attained a North Indian or Punjabi wedding during winters, then you must have been greeted with glassfuls of Badam Milk.

Being delicious is one of the thing, it is a good Health Drink that provides you nutrition, energy and a regular intake helps in weight gain too. Usually Badam Milk is made with mixing Badam paste, sugar and saffron in milk and then cooking till the milk gains a creaminess. Perhaps, if you have soaked almonds in hand, then you would hardly need 10 minutes to make this. It is served hot or lukewarm along with chopped almonds that not only add little bit of crunch, but also give it an exotic appeal.

It is also one of those 'Falahari' recipes that you would love to relish during  fasts & festivals like Shivratri, Navratri/Durga Pooja, Janmashtami, Teej and Karwa Chauth. This would keep energy levels up and provide with the necessary nutrition that your body needs on a tiring festive day.

Most people love to relish this warm Badam Milk after dinner as it provides comfort and helps in a good night sleep. However, if prefer you can have it as a healthy evening snack too.

If you are Under Weight and trying to gain some, then best recommended to intake this milk with home made Aate ke ladoo or Aate ka Halwa and snack on about 10-15 Masala Kaju twice daily. Follow this regime for 2 to 3 months and see the difference.

On fasts and festivals, have 1-2 glassfuls of this Badam Milk to stay away from dehydration and faintness.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Milk (Full cream) - 2 glasses
  • Badam (Almonds)  - 12-15
  • Keser (Saffron) - A pinch or two
  • Sugar - To taste

How to make Badam Milk

To begin with making this Badam Milk we need to soak the almond in Hot Water for an hour at least.

  1. Peel the skin of almonds, it would slide right away. Grind these skinned almonds with little water to form a paste.
  2. Now take milk in a saucepan and mix in the almond paste, saffron and sugar.
  3. Bring to a boil on medium heat and then lower the heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes or till you get the creaminess to your perfection. But do not miss to keep stirring in between to avoid burning of milk at the bottom of pan.
  4. Switch off the heat, cover the saucepan with a lid and keep to rest for 15 to 20 minutes or till it becomes bearable, but is still warm to drink.

Badam Milk is now ready. Pour in glasses and top with chopped almonds. Enjoy!
