Turmeric Salad or Kacchi Haldi Ka Salad is one of those recipes that must be consumed during winters due to it’s natural immunity boosting properties. Turmeric Salad  mixed with crunchy seasonal herbs, veggies and  Fresh Turmeric has a very rustic flavor, aroma and can be served with all the meals like any other salad.

During winters, when Kacchi Haldi is easily available in markets, one should make utmost use of it not just in stirring curries, but consuming it ‘Raw’ like in this particular salad recipe or making Turmeric Milk. It strengthens your body metabolism, protecting not only from common cough n cold, but also improves your digestion, purifies blood, relieves from muscular pain, controls blood sugar levels and also acts as a natural antiseptic.

Turmeric also known as Indian saffron, Jiang huang, Haridra or Haldi, in its powdered form is often tucked away in the spice cupboard and brought out when curry or rice dishes call for its mild, warm peppery flavor and a distinctive shot of yellow coloring.

Indian cuisine and it’s affair with Turmeric needs no introduction. We see it almost everywhere - curries, dals, kadhi, sambhar, rasam, pulao and stir fried veggies. We all know the benefits of Turmeric as a Spice and Beauty Product, but the ‘Raw’ or ‘Fresh’ variety is not known to many people. However, the root itself, in its most crude form, is packed with several benefits. It looks like ‘Ginger’ from outside, but when you peel or cut it, you would notice a deep crimson flesh that is extremely useful not only in cooking, but also in beauty products and other medicinal uses.

Turmeric salad tastes good with almost all types of Indian dishes and hence can be served with the regular ‘Thali’ meals. Pair with Navratan Dal or Palak Pakodi Kadhi along with Carrot Mushroom Masala or the conventional Aloo Gobhi Curry or Aloo Matar Curry; you’re going to love it anyways. Do not miss to serve Methi Oatmeal Bhakhri for a good fiber supplement!

You can also team this salad with South Indian meals consisting of Sambhar, Vegetable Rawa Upma, Uttapam or Rawa Idli.

If you’re on a Weight Loss Diet , then do pair this salad with-

Paneer Oatmeal Dosa

Multigrain Palak Cheela and

Methi Moong Dal Khichidi (without ‘Tempering’)
