This quick chat made with boiled potatoes mingled with chaat masala, onion, ginger and assorted chutneys is a mouth watering delicacy and loved by everyone. The recipe is quite easy and there is absolutely nothing where you can go wrong. The only thing that matters here is your taste and the spice meter that you would like. So you can make changes in the ingredients as well as their proportions till you get the perfect combination!

The key ingredient of this dish is ‘Boiled potatoes’ which is a staple at our homes and this is also a good idea to keep some boiled potatoes ready in refrigerator as you can make dozens of quick snacks or breakfast recipes out of them like grilled potato masala sandwich, bread dahi vada with potato filling, potato bread rolls to accompany your tea or coffee. Not only this, you can also make some instant stir fries or masala curries for lunch or dinner like achaari dum aloo and aloo channe ki ghugani.



*This boiled aloo chaat is a healthier alternative to munch on when you feel to have something that can be made in a jiffy and tickle your taste buds too. So, to keep your snacking more healthy and also help you stay fit, accompany this boiled aloo chaat with chaas or Punjabi namkeen lassi. Recipe Ingredients

Boiled potatoes (Peeled) – 4 large

Onion (Chopped) – 1 small

Tomato (Chopped) – 1 medium

Green chilly (Finely chopped) – 1

Coriander (Finely chopped) – A handful + For garnish

Salt – To taste

Black salt – To taste

Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon

Red chilly powder – ½ teaspoon or to taste

Khatti chutney – 1 tablespoon

Meethi chutney – 1 tablespoon

 

To garnish –

Chopped coriander

Ginger (Grated)

Farsaan or sev (Optional)

Roasted peanuts

How to make Aloo Chaat

This boiled aloo chat can be made in less than 10 minutes if you have all the ingredients handy. So, let’s begin…..we need to roughly mash the potatoes and keep aside for later use.

In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients including chopped veggies, chutneys, spices and salts. Give a nice mix.

Add in the roughly mashed potatoes and give a toss so that all the potato pieces are nicely coated with the masala.

Check taste, you might want to add some more chilly, chutney or salt to suit your taste buds.

Transfer to a serving plate.

Garnish with farsaan, roasted peanuts, ginger and chopped coriander.

Serve immediately.

 

Notes –

*You can use boiled baby potatoes for this dish. They look more inviting.

*To keep a balance between sweet and sour flavors, you may also add some chopped fruits like pomegranate, guava, pineapple etc.

*Add some steamed sweet corn for a twist.
