‘Anar Ka Raita’ or pomegranate raita is another variety of raita that can be made when you want to serve something that not only tastes good but looks truly ‘Exotic’. But of course, this makes it a brilliant festive or party side dish. The light pink color from fresh pomegranate juice and the seeds sprinkled just before serving make it look truly divine. Besides, it is also good for health and tastes splendid with almost all sorts of Indian dishes be it puri, naan, biryani, stir fried rice dishes and the humble dal chawal or khichidi. Like ‘Aloo Raita’, this anar/pomegranate raita also makes one of the finest side dish or light snack for vrat /fasts or navratri if you make a slight change in this recipe. Just substitute common salt with sendha namak or farali salt.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Fresh pomegranate juice – 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt – 1 cup
  • Milk or water – 1/2 cup (Adjustable)
  • Salt – To taste
  • Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp

For garnish –

  • Pomegranate seeds – 1/4 cup
  • Fresh coriander (Chopped) – A handful

How to make Anar Raita

  • Take all the ingredients in a bowl (Except ‘Pomegranate Seeds’) and whisk till smooth.
  • Add anar/pomegranate seeds and give a gentle stir.
  • ‘Anar Ka Raita’ is ready. Garnish with some freshly chopped coriander, pomegranate seeds and serve
