How to make Cabbage Muthia - Gujarati Muthia

Making ‘Dough’ for cabbage muthia -

  • To begin with making these delicious and healthy low fat cabbage muthias with whole wheat flour, we need to make a dough.
  • For this, in a big bowl combine all the ingredients listed under first category and make a soft dough with water.
  • Cover it with a wet muslin cloth and keep to rest for 15 minutes.
  • After resting the dough, knead it again and divide into 3-4 equal portions. Grease your palms with oil and shape these portions into cylinders with 1 inch width and about 5 inches in length.

Steaming –

  • Now heat 2 cups of water in steamer and place the muthia cylinders on a greased steamer tray. Cover it with lid and steam for 10-12 minutes or till they are cooked and firm. Remove from heat.
  • Steamed cabbage muthias are ready. Cut in pieces, add some lemon juice and serve with dahi ki chutney, mint coriander chutney or ginger black pepper pickle which is made without oil.
  • But in case you prefer your snack more spicy, then you can temper these muthias….

Tempering –
