Recipe Ingredients

  • Baby potato - 250 gms.
  • Cumin seeds (Zeera) - 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - A pinch or two
  • Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Dry mango powder (Amchur/pisi khatai) - 1/2 teaspoon or to taste
  • Red chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - To taste
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon

How to make Baby Potatoes

  1. As you can see this Baby Patato Roast Recipe doesnt requires much of ingredients and as we proceed with our cooking method you would notice how easy it is.
  2. So to begin with making our dish we need to wash the baby potatoes to remove away all the dirt & impurities. Put these in a pressure cooker along with 1-1.5 cups of water, close the lid and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles or till it is done to your perfection. Do not over boil otherwise it wont retain its shape.
  3. Next, peel these boiled potatoes and keep aside. We are not cutting them as they look better when cooked whole.
  4. Now heat oil in a pan and add in the cumin seeds. When they begin to crackle add asafoetida and the boiled potatoes. Give a nice mix and cook for 5-8 minutes on high flame or till the potatoes get a lovely golden colour and become slight crisp on the outside. Keep stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
  5. Now its time to season our dish with salt and all the powdered spices. Mix everything and cook for another minute. Switch off the heat.
  6. Baby Potato Roast is now done. Serve with meals or enjoy with your tea. Do refer our Serving Suggestion where we have explained in detail how you can also serve them as an Exotic Party Starter as well !!!
